  1. “American Debt” finds that illegal immigrants are owed by current residents; if so, may it not be argued that the American Indians owed uninvited Europeans? All human societies tend to exploit where they can, seems to me. Maube that’s the real subject …

    • Maybe it is, Jack.

      To play devil’s advocate: the uninvited Europeans were not American citizens. They came from polities that were not the United States. The First Nations that fought wars against the U.S. might have a good argument, but the ones who fought against Europeans before the founding of the United States have no case.
