The Diplomat has a piece up with the following title: “Russia’s Sole Aircraft Carrier to Be Fitted With Advanced New Air Defense System.”
The author of the piece goes on to wax poetic about the advanced new air defense system, but that’s not the most important information being conveyed. It’s the fact that Russia – Russia – has a single aircraft carrier.
Here is Popular Mechanics on countries and their aircraft carriers.
Reblogged this on Utopia – you are standing in it! and commented:
The main Soviet strategic bomber is still in the air based on a B-29 design stolen in 1945 when several were forced to land in Russian territory because of lack of fuel after bombing Japan
And a not very good one based on its passage through the Channel last year. But then Texas, an economic equivalent has none, so there’s that. The other thing is, it’ll be staying in port for a few years, while it is fitted.
And all the while the HMS Queen Elizabeth can operate for a time at almost CVN levels.
